as a Teacher-scholar-activist, my academic research & public scholarship are guided by my commitment to equity in and beyond education.

  • Equity & Early childhood literacies

Promoting and contributing to more expansive definitions of early childhood literacies, especially relating to the acquisition of pre-literacy skills through pedagogic practices that are more inclusive in relation to culture, gender, and ability

  • Feminist qualitative inquiry

Inquiring qualitative methodologies toward more ethical and humanizing practices that take an asset-based and affirmative approach to understand individuals and their communities

  • Social justice & teacher education

Inquiring the syllabus as the central curricular tool to intervene in pedagogical practices toward anti-racist, feminist, anti-carceral, anti-ableist ways of being in the classroom

  • Critical histories of the ECEC sector

Inquiring the critical and nuanced histories of schooling in the United States, especially relating to neoliberal reforms in the ECEC sector; inspired by my experiences in philanthropy and the work of William Henry Watkins (2001), my emphasis is on the role of private funding as it shapes educational research, discourses, and distributions of resources on local and international scales
